Welcome to the first installment of the One Hundred Concepts Builds Blog Series. This new series provides an exclusive look at unique rifle builds, showcasing the innovation and attention to detail that goes into creating tools designed for real-world use. As part of this series, you'll also occasionally see prototypes and concepts that are not yet available to the public, offering a rare glimpse into what we're either working on. Or in this case, what leads to a final product.
Our inaugural feature is Austin's SPR (Special Purpose Rifle), a rifle built with meticulous attention to signature reduction. This build exemplifies a comprehensive approach to remaining concealed across various environments and engagements, ensuring the user remains undetected while maintaining peak performance and durability.
The paint scheme, applied with care, enhances the rifle's ability to blend into its environment. This camouflage minimizes visual detection and prevents reflections that could reveal the shooter's position. Complementing this, the barrel is a 13.95-inch Rosco Manufacturing K9 Greenline Tactical chambered in 5.56 with a mid-length gas system. The barrel's continuous taper profile enhances heat dissipation and balances weight distribution, making it reliable even during prolonged use. The durable Hodge Defense P-Lok rail further reinforces the rifle's ability to maintain accuracy and reliability, even during extended streams of fire. Together, these components make this rifle effective for suppressive fire at intermediate distances. It also makes for a great mounting platform for tripods, CNVDs, and clip-on thermals.
The Forward Controls 6315KM-L muzzle device is a cornerstone of this build's signature reduction when shooting. Designed for exceptional flash suppression, it effectively conceals the shooter's position by reducing visible muzzle flash. Paired with the Dead Air Sandman S suppressor, this rifle achieves a balance between durability and signature reduction. While the Sandman S is not the quietest suppressor available, its extreme durability ensures reliability under the harshest conditions, making it an excellent choice for extended use in demanding environments.
Mounted in a Badger Ordnance Condition One 1.54-inch mount, the EOTech Vudu 1-10x28 FFP optic provides versatility for both close-quarters and long-range engagements. To enhance concealment, the optic features a ScopeCap Pro™ on the front and a ScopeCap™ on the rear, protecting the lenses and minimizing reflections. These additions ensure the user's position remains undetected, even under direct sunlight.
The lighting system on this rifle, a Cloud Defensive REIN 3.0 with an Echoarms body and a prototype ruggedized Lightcap™, furthers the signature reduction goals. The Lightcap™ shields the light from reflection while reducing unintended illumination or reflections that could compromise the user's location. This setup delivers brightness when needed but with careful consideration for concealment.
Other components enhance the rifle’s smooth operation and effectiveness in stealth scenarios. The Sons of Liberty Gun Works (SOLGW) LRF lower receiver, paired with a Geissele SSA-E trigger, offers precision and reliability. Combined with the VLTOR A5 buffer system and mid-length gas system, the rifle delivers seamless operation, even during rapid fire.
This rifle is designed for intermediate to long-range engagements, ideally within 100-600 yards, while retaining the capability for close-quarters combat if necessary. Every detail of this build reflects a commitment to minimizing the operator’s detectability without sacrificing performance or versatility.
