The Weekend Warrior
Weekend Warrior \ week-end wawr-ee-er \ noun informal :
1 a person who participates in a usually physically strenuous activity only on weekends or part-time.
Most of us have jobs that don’t pay us to train to be dangerous. That’s not a bad thing. Society is built and maintained by men like us who aren’t preparing for war every day of our lives. We all have jobs, and for those of us who have wives and children, feeding them takes priority over spending money and time on gear and training.
.
However, most of us have weekends off. If we give one of these weekend days to spending time with family and friends, and one day to training a hard skill, that’s still 52 days each year that can be used for training and becoming more prepared—almost two months.
.
I imagine our society would be much more resilient if we each spent one day per week practicing hard skills such as hunting, camouflage, backpacking, land navigation, gardening, fire starting, LP/OP building, fishing, lock picking, BJJ, foraging, etc…
.
Personally, we’re not there yet. We still have so much to learn but we’re trying to better ourselves every weekend. Let this be your encouragement to become the baddest weekend warrior you can be.
